Have you been using Dropbox nowadays? If you have no idea what Dropbox is, you should really go check it out at this dropbox link that I have shared. In this post, I will be sharing with you my personal dropbox review and just to let you know Dropbox is a online data storage where you can store your data files by just dropping it into the folder aka box. You can choose to try it out as they have a free 2GB space for everyone. The 2GB space really served like a thumbdrive to me as it allows me to access my files that I have saved through the internet. However, if you feel 2GB is not enough, you may even go ahead and request for a higher storage space where you can use it like a external hard disk of 50GB or 100GB based on the monthly or yearly subscriptions that you paid for.

Anyway, how do I come about this dropbox thingy actually started when I saw it on some online forums where a lot of people are saying how good dropbox is. However, during that time I did not really care much as I have my own personal thumbdrive and external hard disk that I use to transfer my working files between my home computer and work pc. It was a very ironic experience as after a few months later of discovery of dropbox, I ended up using it instead as my home laptop’s Operating System (OS) crash and most of my files that I saved on my desktop were gone. I did not manage to do any backup as those files were the one that I update everyday as they are my daily goals and tracking updates files.

Click Here to Try the Free Basic 2GB Storage Space that Dropbox Provides

After losing those important files that I have used for months, I was very sad although I managed to restore my laptop’s OS. I went to find ways where I can backup my important files easily without having to keep on transferring from one hard disk to another. In the end, I recall about dropbox and went ahead to give it a try. After using it, I did not regret my actions of trying it out as it’s really great like what other people mentioned in the online forum.

Fast forward a few months, I am still using it almost every single day and I have even go far beyond of using it just like a normal online storage as I have managed to share some of my folders with my mastermind group, my girlfriend and outsource writer where we can share the files easily with one another without having to send one by one through email especially those files that are too big for uploading into an email. One good thing about dropbox is once you installed it onto your computer, it just served like a normal folder on your computer where you can just open the files inside the folder and do whatever tasks you want on the file with just a save after that will do. You can even access your files easily if you are on another computer by just logging in your online dropbox account and save it onto the computer that you are using.

There are lot of ways you can make full use of the dropbox and I believe in the near future, it may even change the way we have storages on our computer to online basis. One more thing, if your handphone support online functions, you can even access dropbox whenever you go so do check it out and see whether it will help you in your work or computer backup. Don’t follow my footstep of having my computer crash then I go check it out as you will be sad if it really happens.

Click Here to Try the Free Basic 2GB Storage Space that Dropbox Provides

Cheers
Javier

P.S You can get up to 8GB of free storage space if you referred more people to sign up with dropbox and that’s what I’m doing

Recently, there have been a lot of goals around in the world cup and since now the world cup had ended, I have decided it’s time to do a half a year review of my own goals (promises) for this year. Normally when we do a review for our goals, we should do it regularly but as my goals are more of a long term type, I have decided to do it half a year basis. As you can see, this is already in the month of July and I have seemed to have slacked off the time chart. However, just to have a quick update for my 3 promises that I want to achieve in Year 2010.

1) Prepare and participate in a 42KM Marathon.

As I have mentioned previously in my blog that I have already completed my 16km marathon in march 2010, my next target will be 21km in 12 sept 2010 (Singapore Bay Run aka Army Half Marathon [AHM]) and the final goal is 42km (Standard Charter Run) in 5 Dec 2010. I have already signed up the two marathons. Currently, I have already been running regularly every week at my neighbourhood park and occasionally with my colleagues for longer distance plus weekend sports games like badminton or soccer with my friends. I believe there should not be any problems with the final run in Dec.

2) Read at least 15 self-help books

I have managed to complete this goal by reading more than 15 books already but I am going to continue to read as reading seems to be a joyful thing to me now compared to last time. I felt that the books that authors wrote are actually a place where they can share their lifetime knowledge that they have in their books. Will give a final update on the books I have read this year towards the end of the year so that you can have a view of the books I have read so far this year. Personally, I can say this year I have read a lot of books compared to any years I have last time and this actually make me feel great.

3) Make a consistent 4 figure income online and at least a 5 figure for one month

Currently, I am still working on this as I have only managed to make a consistent 2 figures income online per month which I know is a pretty insignificant amount compared to someone who is working part time at Mac Donald’s. Personally, I have been learning and working on this internet marketing field for 1 year plus and I have realized I have not really take it seriously as a business stand point. I have been using my employee mindset to see the returns of investments which stopped myself from achieving what I am supposed to be achieving now. Personally, I have done some changes in my mindset and will try to step out of my comfort zone.

Here’s a quote which I found recently that caused me to think through:

When the record book on you is finished, let it show your wins and losses. But don’t let it show you didn’t try ~ Jim Rohn

Personally, I feel that goal number 1 and 2 can be achieved easily so I will not put in extra effort in them. However, now I will focus on one goal and I will update my progress again once I have made a more significant increase for my goal number 3.

Cheers

Javier

Have you ever wonder whether the power of questions can help you settle your challenges in life? If you have read the book Rich Dad Poor Dad before, you will know that it is important that we should ask quality questions through our mind in order to get quality answers and results. Rich Dad has taught us that when you desire something that is out of your current reach such as a beautiful bunglow along the beach or something super expensive, you should not be thinking or saying “I can’t afford it” as this closes your mind from going through the thinking process. However, you should be asking yourself “How can I afford it?” as asking this question allows your mind to think through and usually lots of ideas will be generated for you in your mind.

Some of you may be thinking even if you ask yourself questions, there is still a very low possiblity that you might achieve your dream or get what you want in life. Let me ask you a question, what is the possiblities of getting what you want if you has the following thought process in your mind: “I can’t afford it”? I can tell you the answer is a definite zero as your brain has closes itself without even have a chance to help you find a solution.

Personally, I have an experience during my work that really amazed me about this theory of asking questions. One of my ex colleagues needed my help to get a song out from a DVD rom which she needed to burn into a cd for her class but my first initial thought was I couldn’t get the song out of the disc as its a DVD. I asked her if she has the title of the song, I could find it online for her instead but she told me it’s a kids variety show song so she didn’t know the title at all. However, she highlighted to me that someone else had managed to retrieve a song from a DVD for her before so she thought I would be able to do it for her too. To cut long story short, I went to do some research online and found there’s actually ways to retrieve the songs from DVD.

This personal experience taught me that nothing is impossible and we should not give any problems we face a definite NO when we do not know the answer. If we actually put on our thinking cap and think through by asking ourself quality questions, we should be able to find a quality answer towards our questions we have in life. Remember never say die until you have really tried all kinds of ways in trying to solve your problems by asking questions in your mind. Just imagine, if the wright brothers were not asking the questions of whether can we human fly like a bird. Do you think that we will have aeroplanes now?

Cheers

Javier

P.S Hope this post can intrigue you to have a different point of view when you are facing challenges in your life. If you have no idea about the book Rich Dad Poor Dad, do go check it out at your local library.

Recently, I have been trying to accomplish some tasks required during my work and I discovered some interesting factors while performing the tasks. There are a few tasks needed to be done on every single computers in a lab and while repeating the steps needed for every single computers, I realized there are some programs that need to be deleted from the computers which is not in used anymore. After uninstalling the unused programs, I realized by doing that extra step, there will be not enough time left to complete all the required tasks planned in the first place. In the end, I stopped the uninstalling programs step and continue what is planned in the first place.

While performing the tasks needed for every single computers, I am able to relate what we are doing with what I have learnt through reading personal development books and audio tapes while they talked about batching similar tasks together in order to accomplish the tasks at a faster pace. When you are able to batch similar things together, you will tend to build a momentum to finish all the tasks required at a faster pace as you can focus on the one task first without having to remember every single steps of all the tasks for every single repeat. It may be quite hard for you to visualize what I mean through words so I will try to illustrate it with a diagram and hope you can grab the useful idea so that you can apply in your daily life too.

It will be better if you batch similar tasks together as you will be able to complete all task 1 earlier. Although theoretically it show that you will be able to finish all the tasks at a same time no matter if you are batching your to-do or not, when you actually do it with your own emotions and day momentum, you will definitely be able to complete all your tasks faster with batching as you do not have to remember every single steps and do them all at one time but just focus your energy on one task only.

The most important thing is to plan out the outcome you want to achieve with steps of what to do and after that give batching a try to see what you can achieve from it. Currently, I am trying to find a better way to plan my life as previously I do not have the habit of planning in advance the things I want to achieve in detail. However, I have read so many personal development books recently and most of the successful people all achieve great things through planning so this shows that planning is a really important step if I want to achieve my dreams on my journey to success. Therefore, if you come across any great programs that teaches you how to plan your life, do recommend me through this blog.

Cheers

Javier

P.S. If you have experience any sort of batching in your life, share with us by writing a comment in this post.

Are you currently doing things that you enjoy most? Is there a way to do things more effectively without having to go through so much troubles and worries? Actually, there are better ways to solve problems that we are facing currently if we are willing to open our mind towards best practices outsourcing our life.

What do I mean best practices outsourcing our life? This means that we should do what we are best of and get someone else to do what we have troubles with which means find the experts to solve our problems. For my case, I am actually a bad writer as I usually have a hard time putting words and phrases together in english and in my journey to create an online business, I do need to write articles for my affiliate sites which actually cause a headache to myself. I have actually heard of those overseas online mentors teaching us to find someone overseas and outsource what we don’t like to do. This will usually helps us solve our problems of writing but personally I am actually quite reluctant to outsource to an overseas personnel as the pricing seems to be a problem to me. Thus, in order to save the cost of outsourcing my article writing, I do it myself and in the end, I become quite fed up about writing and gave up on one of the sites that I made my first online dollar purely through article marketing. Recently, I joined a paid forum (PPV Playbook) which teaches online marketing through PPV traffic and some other techniques. In the forum, I met a lot of interesting members from all over the world and I listed down some of my problems that I faced on my journey in internet marketing. The good thing is my problem don’t seem to be a problem through their eyes as they are able to give me suggestions to help me solve my problems.

One of my problems is to rewrite an article for my affiliate sites and what they suggest is outsourcing it to someone else overseas or even my friends who are willing to take up the task. The idea strucked me by the head as I have never try asking my friend before whether they are able to help me rewrite those articles at a reasonable fees. Things got interesting after I saw the forum post and I went ahead to think of some friends who might be willing to take up the task and help me with the article rewriting. After going through my mind of who to ask, I realized that I do have friends who are good in this area and I went ahead to contact him. He agreed with my proposal and my problem of rewriting articles is solved.

Through this incident, I have learnt that it is very important for us to free up our mind from those things we do not like to do and get someone who is good at it to help us complete it so that we can focus on the thing we are good at. What I suggesting is not pushing all your tasks that you don’t feel like doing to someone else to do as it is actually avoiding responsiblity in life. What I trying to get is to look for someone who is good in the area that you are not and ask for their help if they are very efficient in that area. Partner with that person to get the task done as you will definitely feel happier in life but do make sure that you reward the person well and treat them good as they will definitely help you out.

This is the first time that I have tried out outsourcing the things I hate doing and I can say that the feeling is really great as it free up my mind to concentrate on the things that I am doing pretty good at. Therefore, start thinking positively that any problems can actually be solved easily if we approach it with an open mind.

Cheers

Javier

P.S. Anyway, all these posts in this personal blog is written by myself and do hope that you grab some good tips through my posts on my journey to success.

Have you heard of babies start running without learning how to walk? Most probably “NO” unless there are some special cases that is happening to the baby. What I am trying to get to you is that we all need to start something no matter how small the event might be, once these baby steps are formed, we will slowly start to see some progress or success.

Today’s topic is about taking baby steps to success and through my running schedule for preparing for a few upcoming marathons this year, I have learnt that we need to start something and carry on till we reach our destination. Currently, I have managed to run pass the 10KM mark in a single run and I can say this is something significant for myself as I have not run more than 5KM in a single run in my past entire 23 years. Through this running experiences, I have learnt that if I start something no matter how short the distance is and carry on repeating and improving it, I will be able to achieve something great. Personally, I have set a promise for myself this year to complete a full 42KM marathon and I have been training since last year November (2009). When I first started my training schedule, I didn’t even start with anything close to 10KM as I have not even run pass the 5KM mark in a single run before. I started with the distance that I feel comfortable with which is 2.4KM and slowly increase another 1 round (400M) per week to build up my stamina and confidence.

After running pass the 5KM mark, I realized that it is something achievable and I felt that I no longer will feel tired so easily in the first 5KM. Through repeating the same process and increasing the distance every week, I am getting more used to my own body conditions and I believe that achieving my goal of running a 42KM marathon this year is not a difficult task at all.

To end this post sharing, I will like to summarise what I have learnt so far through my running experience and the following will be in pointer form for easy reference:

1) Set a specific goal or promise to yourself of what you want to achieve in a given period of time. (eg. Completing a 42KM marathon this year)

2) Start with something no matter how big or small it is and set a schedule till the desired achievement date.(eg. Started with 2.4KM and run twice a week on every Wednesday and Sunday. Increase 1 round (400M) per week to build up the body)

3) Review the progress along the way and make changes accordingly. (eg. Signed up a 16KM first and monitor my own condition)

4) Keep on repeat the process and build up the confidence in yourself till you achieve your goal.

Cheers
Javier

P.S. Hope I have shared something great with you but remember no matter how small the first step is, most important is to take the action.

Tang Cheng

Happy New Year to everyone who visit this blog, this is a new year 2010 and I will like to update some progress along the way. Recently in late December 2009, I went to Hong Kong, Macau and Zhu Hai for a 5 days 4 nights holiday and it was my first time taking a flight overseas. When I start to think back about the past 1 year, I realized that I have actually grown quite a bit as 2009 was the first year that I stepped out my home country, Singapore. Once the plane starts to take off, I started to panic as this was my first time sitting on an airplane but once I thought of my desired travel lifestyle, I started to feel better. Sitting on the airplane allowed me to experience what Tony Robbins had mentioned before in his seminar that an airplane took so much energy to take off and due to the weather conditions, they have to adjust the flight in order to reach the destination. If you are aware of what I’m actually trying to get you, you will understand that we have to take massive actions and adjust our plans along our journey to success in order to reach our destination.

A few things that I enjoyed during this overseas trip were the food and cold weather, the temperature over there were from 8 – 18 Degree Celsius which I could not experience in Singapore. When the last day of my holiday, I started to realize that this is actually the lifestyle that I always desired with no worries about work or money and able to travel around freely to new countries to explore the new places with my loved ones.

One interesting thing that happened when I came back in Singapore was that I found that my CPA commission had increased in profits during my trip which I have left my campaign untouched during the 5 days. Now, I start to see some consistent real profits coming in and I will update here again once that amount become more significant. This overseas trip has allowed me to see new things and opportunities in my journey to success and I become more clear of what I want in my life.

Before I end this post, I will like to write down my 3 main promises that I want to meet in Year 2010.

1) Prepare and participate in a 42KM Marathon.

(Have signed up a 16KM North East Run recently and will take part more along the year)

2) Read at least 15 self-help books

(Have to restart my morning reading habit again)

3) Make a consistent 4 figure income online and at least a 5 figure for one month

(Have to put in more effort and work on my belief to make this works for myself)

Lastly, a happy new year to all my readers and all the best in your journey to success too.

Cheers
Javier

P.S. Remember to take massive actions and adjust your flight accordingly along your journey to success.
