Do you know that you can unleash your true potential? Do you know that we are only using less than 10 percent of our true potential? All human beings can achieve great things in life but all have to base on whether we believe and have faith in ourselves or not.

Recently, I have listened to an audio book called Psycho Cybernetics and at the same time went to read the Psycho Cybernetics book to reinforce the information that I have listened. There’s a chapter that mentioned about “Dehypnotize Yourself” and the following is an small abstract from that chapter.

Is Everyone Hypnotized?

It is no exaggeration to say that every human being is hypnotized to some extent, either by eithers he has uncritically accepted from others, or ideas he has repeated to himself or convinced himself are true. These negative ideas have exactly the same effect upon our behavior as the negative ideas implanted into the mind of a hypnotized subject by a professional hypnotist.

The main idea is for us to learn how to dehypnotize ourselves so that we can prevent our limiting beliefs from stopping us to achieve what we can with our true potential. In the book, it talks about using mental picturing in our threatre of the mind to get everything nicely in position. This is considered a technique of visualization which helps to build our self image.

What I have shared is just a small portion of the book and I do recommend you to pick up the book from your local bookstore or the library in order to find out in details about the concept shared by Dr. Maxwell Maltz. Just to let you know that Dr. Maxwell Maltz was a very famous plastic surgeon who made a discovery about the human self-image.

Cheers
Javier

P.S. The video shared above is extracted from my favourite childhood anime, Dragonball Z. Hope you like it too.

Today’ s post is considered a very special one as I’m going to write about a real life case study of what you can achieve when you go for your dreams. Recently, I met up with one of my ex colleagues who opened a snack stall in one of the primary school. When I first saw her in her newly open stall, I nearly cannot recognise her as she has put on her contact lens instead of her usual spectacles. Personally, I felt that she has seemed to look much younger and liver compared to the last time that I met her.

To cut long story short, my ex colleague had ventured out to become her own boss after quitting her job. She went ahead to become a snack stall owner in the primary school. While eating the food that she had prepared for us and sitting down to chat, I went ahead and asked her a few questions about whether she liked her current position as her own boss. She gave a immediate answer back that she loved what she is doing now as she enjoyed lesser stress and higher income compared to her previous job. The most important part is she is able to knock off earlier at 3pm as the school she’s in is a single session one and she is even able to go shopping or catch a movie without having to go at the time where there’s a lot of crowd. Can you believe it as she even told us that there’s a lot of weekdays promotional sale or meal offer that she can enjoy now compared to last time where she was tied to a 8-5pm job.

Through the chat I had with her, I realized that she was really enjoying herself now as she get to make more money compared to the fixed income she can earn from a job. I could still remember the time when she was preparing to leave her job, she had told me before that becoming an entrepreneur was her dream and she did not dare to venture out as she had a family. However, the reason why she made the move this time round was because she had finally managed to find a low rental fees’ stall in a primary school through her friend’s recommendation and this was the first move towards her dream as an entrepreneur.

I was very happy to see the bright smile on the face of my ex colleague and was glad that she had made the right move towards her dreams. It is very important that we should all go for our dreams and live life with no regrets. Hope this real case study has inspired you to go for your dreams and make sure you live your life with no regrets like what my friend did. No matter how small the step can be, make sure you take the faith and courage to move towards your dreams.

Cheers

Javier

The special day that occurred this year was on 14 of Feb as there were two special occasions falling on the same day and they were first day of chinese new year (nian chu yi in chinese) and valentine day. I have been eating a lot of new year goodies without maintaining my diet as it was a special period and I can say those food have made me put on some weight and caused me to feel tired easily when I was back at work compared to the time when I was regularly eating fruits with normal portion of food. Luckily, chinese new year is not all year round or else I think I may have put on a pretty huge amount of weight on myself if I keep on going to different places (relatives and friends houses) to eat good food.

During this chinese new year period, I have seen a few of my nieces and cousins growing up faster than I have expected. This shows that I may have to work on myself to grow or else they may be growing faster than me and my progress in life will not be in time for my schedule. I have bought a motivational board and placed it in my office to motivate myself each and every day whenever I am feeling down. Take a look and see whether the words give any motivation to you too.

Have you heard of babies start running without learning how to walk? Most probably “NO” unless there are some special cases that is happening to the baby. What I am trying to get to you is that we all need to start something no matter how small the event might be, once these baby steps are formed, we will slowly start to see some progress or success.

Today’s topic is about taking baby steps to success and through my running schedule for preparing for a few upcoming marathons this year, I have learnt that we need to start something and carry on till we reach our destination. Currently, I have managed to run pass the 10KM mark in a single run and I can say this is something significant for myself as I have not run more than 5KM in a single run in my past entire 23 years. Through this running experiences, I have learnt that if I start something no matter how short the distance is and carry on repeating and improving it, I will be able to achieve something great. Personally, I have set a promise for myself this year to complete a full 42KM marathon and I have been training since last year November (2009). When I first started my training schedule, I didn’t even start with anything close to 10KM as I have not even run pass the 5KM mark in a single run before. I started with the distance that I feel comfortable with which is 2.4KM and slowly increase another 1 round (400M) per week to build up my stamina and confidence.

After running pass the 5KM mark, I realized that it is something achievable and I felt that I no longer will feel tired so easily in the first 5KM. Through repeating the same process and increasing the distance every week, I am getting more used to my own body conditions and I believe that achieving my goal of running a 42KM marathon this year is not a difficult task at all.

To end this post sharing, I will like to summarise what I have learnt so far through my running experience and the following will be in pointer form for easy reference:

1) Set a specific goal or promise to yourself of what you want to achieve in a given period of time. (eg. Completing a 42KM marathon this year)

2) Start with something no matter how big or small it is and set a schedule till the desired achievement date.(eg. Started with 2.4KM and run twice a week on every Wednesday and Sunday. Increase 1 round (400M) per week to build up the body)

3) Review the progress along the way and make changes accordingly. (eg. Signed up a 16KM first and monitor my own condition)

4) Keep on repeat the process and build up the confidence in yourself till you achieve your goal.

Cheers
Javier

P.S. Hope I have shared something great with you but remember no matter how small the first step is, most important is to take the action.

If you have not watched it yet, I do recommend you go check it out as it will inspire you to do great things too.

Invictus Synopsis

The film tells the inspiring true story of how Nelson Mandela joined forces with the captain of South Africa’s rugby team to help unite their country. Newly elected President Mandela knows his nation remains racially and economically divided in the wake of apartheid. Believing he can bring his people together through the universal language of sport, Mandela rallies South Africa’s rugby team as they make their historic run to the 1995 Rugby World Cup Championship match.

Before I end this post, I will like to share with you the Invictus Poem that is talked about in the Invictus movie.

Invictus poem written by William Ernest Henley

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

Cheers

Are you a book lover? All of us should know that reading books is one of the sources where we can grab a lot of knowledge. However, research have shown that most people tend to read lesser books after they have completed their school. If you are one of those people listed in the research and you are searching your journey to success too, make sure that you start your reading habits again. Previously, I have shared a few videos by Jim Rohn and through his seminar, he had shared with us that in order to strive our success, we must constantly plant the seeds by reading books and learn to apply them into our life. Do you know that while Tony Robbins was 19 years old, he had already read more than 1000 over books and his reading habits of a huge amount of books every month was stunning. While attending his seminar, I was quite curious about how did he manage to achieve that amount of books in a short period of time and become who he was today. After observing some successful people and through reading books, I realized that those people who achieved success in their lives are all having a common factor.

Do you know that we can actually grab a lot of knowledge through reading books but in the process of grabbing more knowledge, we will need to spend time learning the material shared in the books. Based on each individual reading speed, some people can achieve reading more books within a month while some can only read 1. Through one of the books on speed reading by Tony Buzan, I have learnt that speed reading can be trained and the reason why most people tend to lose focus while reading is because they tend to read back the words they read before.

The normal reading speed of most people is 400 plus per minute and currently I still lie within the normal reading speed range as previously before reading Tony Buzan’s speed reading book, my reading speed was worst than normal reading speed. However, after realizing the importance of speed reading, I start to practise the techniques shown in the book and I tend to read books faster than before. Most people will think that reading faster will cause them to be unable to grab the concept of the book and they tend to read slowly in order to understand the book that they are reading. However, after reading the speed reading book by Tony Buzan, I found out that they had actually conducted a research in that speed reading field and the research showed that reading fast actually do not prevent people from grabbing the main concept of the book that he or she is reading. Research had also shown that all presidents in United States have to go through a speed reading course before getting into the president position. The reason why speed reading is so important is because there are so many things that a president need to know and understand so they have to read fast and act so that things can move fast.

I will stop here and let you think through whether it is important to read fast or not. However, before you conclude with an answer, make sure you have researched more about the topic of speed reading. Currently,I’m still searching for a speed reading software that can help to improve my reading speed to a next level and if you do have any great recommendation, please put a comment and let me know about it. For the time being, I will stick with the method taught by Tony Buzan and increase my word per minute reading speed one step at a time.

Cheers

#Quote: Successful people don’t have reasons, they have results. ~ Greg Secker

Are you successful in your life right now? If you are successful right now, this means that you focuses your mind on the results more than the reasons. Recently, I have realized that one of the reasons why I’m not successful is because I keep on coming out with plenty of reasons why I can’t achieve what I want in life. Example of not having enough money to perform certain things, not having the right opportunities, not motivated to complete my task on time and so on. I realized I really focus most of my energy on the reasons why instead of my end results of what I want to achieve in my life.

Actually, the concept of reason versus result was from T.Harv Eker’s Millionaire Mind Seminar that I had attended about 1 year plus ago. Recently, through one of the audio books I listen, I found the concept once again and therefore I decided to write a post on this. Did you feel procrastination whenever you gave yourself a reason as you start to worry about what will happen if something happen? Whenever we start giving ourselves reasons to our mind, we focus our mind on the problems and thus more problems tend to be attracted to us (Law of Attraction). Once we realize there are too many problems for us to handle, we tend to become immobile in our actions and instead of taking massive actions to reach our goals, we tend to take easy steps or make no big improvement to improve our situations.

I realized that our mind plays a very important role to help us succeed in our life and we have to choose our thoughts wisely so that it will not sabotage our performance to reach our goals. Successful and well known sportsman (like Michael Jordon or Tiger Woods) usually will focus their mind on the end results of seeing themselves winning the title and visualizing the end results in their mind while they are in or outside their game. Therefore, I believe it is very important that we should all start training our mind to focus on the solutions (results) instead of problems (reasons) whenever we meet any difficulties or challenges in life.

Right now, imagine you are a soccer player playing in the world cup final and your team is losing 1 goal. What is your immediate thought in your mind right now? Always ask yourselves what will those well known sportsman be thinking in their mind right now if they are facing the situation as you are right now. This will probably reminds us that we need to focus our mind on the end results instead of pondering on the reasons “WHY”.

Cheers

Javier

P.S. Write down your end results and visualize it to remind yourselves the importance of focusing on it.

In most RPGs, there are monsters of all sorts of levels for you to fight against to train yourself before meeting the bosses of each specific location. Personally, I have learned something about life through playing RPG. For example, sometimes we feel that a specific problem may be overwhelming for us right now but once we become bigger than our problems and look back at the problem, it seems no longer that big anymore.

Almost everyone start from low level (Level 1) in RPG and we fight our ways through with monsters of our current level in order to gain level. Sometimes, we do fight monsters of slightly higher level in order to level up faster. The most interesting part is when you are at a pretty high level, you won’t feel a kick anymore when you try to kill those monsters at lower levels. Remember those are the monsters that you are having troubles killing when your level was pretty low previously. What I’m trying to get to you from this post is that don’t always take problems as a bad thing as problems are actually ways for us to grow ourselves in order to reach a higher level.

I got the idea of writing this post through the book I have read previously by T.Harv Eker called “Secrets of the Millionaire Mind”. The author of the book has mentioned about how most people treat their problems in life and make themselves so stressed up. The most interesting part where he teaches us in his book how we can remind ourselves when we faced problems in our life is to keep on repeat the words “Mini Me” to ourselves. By repeating the words to ourselves, we will realize that we need to be bigger than our problems in order to grow to the next level.

Cheers

Tang Cheng

Happy New Year to everyone who visit this blog, this is a new year 2010 and I will like to update some progress along the way. Recently in late December 2009, I went to Hong Kong, Macau and Zhu Hai for a 5 days 4 nights holiday and it was my first time taking a flight overseas. When I start to think back about the past 1 year, I realized that I have actually grown quite a bit as 2009 was the first year that I stepped out my home country, Singapore. Once the plane starts to take off, I started to panic as this was my first time sitting on an airplane but once I thought of my desired travel lifestyle, I started to feel better. Sitting on the airplane allowed me to experience what Tony Robbins had mentioned before in his seminar that an airplane took so much energy to take off and due to the weather conditions, they have to adjust the flight in order to reach the destination. If you are aware of what I’m actually trying to get you, you will understand that we have to take massive actions and adjust our plans along our journey to success in order to reach our destination.

A few things that I enjoyed during this overseas trip were the food and cold weather, the temperature over there were from 8 – 18 Degree Celsius which I could not experience in Singapore. When the last day of my holiday, I started to realize that this is actually the lifestyle that I always desired with no worries about work or money and able to travel around freely to new countries to explore the new places with my loved ones.

One interesting thing that happened when I came back in Singapore was that I found that my CPA commission had increased in profits during my trip which I have left my campaign untouched during the 5 days. Now, I start to see some consistent real profits coming in and I will update here again once that amount become more significant. This overseas trip has allowed me to see new things and opportunities in my journey to success and I become more clear of what I want in my life.

Before I end this post, I will like to write down my 3 main promises that I want to meet in Year 2010.

1) Prepare and participate in a 42KM Marathon.

(Have signed up a 16KM North East Run recently and will take part more along the year)

2) Read at least 15 self-help books

Cheers
